How To Install Zend Framework

Zend Framework is an open source, object oriented web application framework for PHP 5. ZF is often called a ‘component library’, because it has many loosely coupled components that you can use more or less independently. But Zend Framework also provides an advanced Model-View-Controller (MVC) implementation that can be used to establish a basic structure for your ZF applications.

Installing Zend Framework is extremely simple.

Once you have downloaded Zend Framework from this link
and extracted the framework, you should add the /library folder in the distribution to the beginning of your PHP include path.
There are two ways to install Zend Framework:

  1. Using htaccess (Apache mod_rewrite required). This is the simplest way to install Zend Framework if you haven’t access to the php.ini file. Upload via FTP the /library folder, after that create a .htaccess file or add this text at the top of the existing one:
    <IfModule mod_php5.c>
                 php_value include_path "/home/seobat/public_html/library:.:/bin/php5/lib/php"
    </IfModule>

    Where “/home/seobat/public_html/library” is the absolute path of Zend Framework /library folder

  2. If you have permission to edit php.ini file, search the include_path variable and adding to it the absolute path of Zend Framework /library folder to the variable.
